Lil
SLice (Shaune H. Crawford), Talent off the raw streets of Brooklyn,
NYC, grew up in a family with a background for show-biz and music.
An individual who recently got into rap at the young age of thirteen
years old when Hip-Hop and Alternative Rock were being combined as
a musical composition.
Born in the year 1991, his generation and
age-group were brought up in a technical society where computers
and musical devices were storming the economy. He was a problem child
in school, never had good grades and only paid attention to the more
social things in life such as his personal identity, close friends,
girls, and obviously music.
The road to Lil SLice becoming a Hip-Hop
artist is similar to other upcoming rappers trying to do the same
thing, he started writing poetry and rhymes when listening to songs
by Tupac, Big Pun, Biggie Smalls, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Talib
Kweli, Mos Def, etc. But his lyrics are very different. Most mainstream
and even underground Hip-Hop artists today write about the hood,
the violence, the money and jewelry that comes out of it, they never
educate in their music, they just brag about the things that they
have and how they came from nothing to something.
Lil SLice was sick
of such lyrics and songs and resented the fact that these artists
had talent and degraded themselves as human beings by showing a greedy,
obnoxious side to them, a very ignorant side. While growing up and
going to school, he watched and even conformed himself to the personality
traits of a stereotypical Hip-Hop fan. A lot of cursing, unfaithful
relationships with girls he was dating, fights and baggy clothes.
He ended up in a gang-related rap group of 3 People and went through
many different ghetto's trying to promote music as a African American,
Trinidadian rapper. Currently,Lil SLice is respected as a young unsigned
rapper from New York City.
He has a mediocre reputation but his music
has a huge impact on his fans worldwide. Meeting up with another
upcoming singer from Charlotte,North Carolina, Lyrekal they established
a group called Yung Riderz and got together a third member,803 Hell
Rell to join the movement. Today the independent group has little
recognition but they are working on making it big. Everything takes
time and with a few promises it won't be long before the Yung Riderz
are getting the respect and appreciation they deserve.Lil SLice is
one of the most hard working, spoken word hip-hop artists in the
game today, with no record deal and no contract signings, he's able
to still spread a message through his music to his fans everywhere
whether through websites such as Myspace or Soundclick or even to
people locally.
His style of Hip-Hop is unique and of one nobody
has ever heard before, and they love it. " A legend isn't made
overnight, What's legendary is the music he writes. " - Lil
SLice He will be heard, and Hip-Hop will change once again. This
time, to embrace the positive. Not the negative.
