At
the Chicago Music Opportunity Project Record Release Party- the largest
music competition to ever take place in Chicago, 2003 Illinois Senator,
Ricky Hendon declared- “I want this artist on my record label” as
he shook hands with Jargon to congratulate him on the CD release. Since
then, offers have only kept on coming.
Through CDs, mix-tapes, competitions, and performances,
he has stolen the attention of Atlantic Records, Sony, BMG, Shorty
Capone, and several other independent labels across the country. On
May 19, after Portland's Import Fantasies Show, ex-Ruff Ryder
and founder of Crafty Plugz Records, Jin the Emcee, proclaimed “Jargon
is officially Crafty Plugz.”
With the help of Atlantic Producers, N.O.I.D. and
Soundtrakk, Jargon has set forth to bring you yet again, another
banger. Combined, these producers have worked with artists
such as Jay-Z, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Bow Wow, Method Man, and
many more. The new album, titled “Grind 2 Five,” including
tracks featuring Jin the Emcee and Wordsworth from MTV's Lyricist
Lounge, is set to hit stores first quarter of ‘07.
Jargon started out in the battle circuit, where
he won competitions such as the Release Battles, Ultimate Microphone
Challenge, and Battle of the Emcees, to name a few. This
Chicago-bred rapper has done shows all across the US. Opening
for artists such as the Nappy Roots, Joe Budden, DJ Q-Bert, SunNY,
and RhymeFest, it wasn't long before he was sharing the stage
with performers like Jin the Emcee, Bump J, IBU, and Maliq Yusef. His
work habit and strive for success has landed him on TV, in newspapers,
magazines, and on some of internet's most popular music websites.
Growing up on artists like Ma$e, Big L, and the
Fugees, Jargon has always idolized the glamour life. Although
being a famous rap star is an obvious way to get all the flashy
cars and the platinum chains, he has found other outlets in music
to help him reach that status. Not only does he write all
of his own lyrics, Jargon is also a song writer for other rappers
and R&B singers.
To add to that, he also runs his own studio, records
all of his own music and is currently in the process of launching
his own label, Grind 2 Five Records. With artists like
Kanye, RhymeFest, Lupe Fiasco, and Bump J, it is safe to say
that Chicago has become the forefront for new talent. So
with 2 mix-tapes and his debut album scheduled to drop in 2007,
keep your eyes open for Chi-Town's own, Jargon.
